Founder & Executive Chef
Marco Rivera
Marco turned his grandmother's recipes into a culinary movement. With 20+ years in professional kitchens, he leads every menu development with bold, intentional flavor.
Cafe Rio began with a simple dream — to bring fresh, scratch-made Mexican-inspired food to the heart of Gilbert, Arizona. What started as a small family kitchen has grown into a beloved community fixture, serving thousands of guests every month without ever compromising on quality.
From day one, our founders believed that great food doesn't need shortcuts. Every sauce is slow-simmered, every tortilla hand-pressed, and every bowl assembled with intention. That philosophy hasn't changed — and never will.
Today, Cafe Rio stands as a testament to what happens when passion meets perseverance. We've grown our team, expanded our menu, and deepened our roots in the Gilbert community — but the spirit of that original kitchen lives in every meal we serve.
We exist to nourish people — not just with food, but with warmth, belonging, and the kind of meals that become memories.
To serve bold, authentic food made from the freshest ingredients, creating a dining experience that brings joy and community together — one meal at a time.
To become the most trusted name in fresh, flavorful food across Arizona — expanding our community presence while staying true to our roots and values.
Every visit to Cafe Rio is a promise kept. We pledge to use real ingredients, treat every guest with genuine hospitality, and never stop improving our craft.
These aren't slogans on a wall. They're the principles we live and cook by, every single day.
We honor the traditions that inspired our recipes and never compromise our roots for convenience.
From farm to table, we insist on the freshest local produce and premium ingredients in every dish.
We invest in the Gilbert community through local sourcing, events, and genuine relationships.
We set the bar high for every plate, every interaction, and every moment you spend with us.
Every corner of Cafe Rio reflects our passion for great food and warm hospitality.
